In a political and cultural landscape marked by increasing divisiveness and partisanship, there is one thing we all seem to agree on: We are in a state of moral decline.

There is overwhelming evidence that most people feel this way. But it may be a mass illusion. This is the conclusion of Adam Mastroianni and Daniel Gilbert in their new paper, “The Illusion of Moral Decline” (just published in Nature).
